I was born in Vietnam, came to the US at six, and grew up in Manhattan — always a little between places. I let the painting figure out what it wants to be before I do.
I didn’t train as an artist. This started as something private, a way of working things out with color instead of words, and it slowly turned into something I wanted other people to see. Every piece starts the same way — I follow the paint, not a plan — and somewhere in that process, a face or a form finds its way to the surface on its own.
Each piece is one of one. Once it’s gone, I won’t paint it again — what you’re looking at is a single, unrepeatable moment of figuring something out. I hope one of them finds its way to you.
